Privacy policy

Pregnancy and your baby's first years are some of the most personal things you will ever track. This policy explains, in plain language, what the Bloom app and this website do with your information.

The short version

  • Your journal stays on your iPhone. Check-ins, memories, photos, kick counts, contractions, feeds, measurements and appointments are stored on your device, not on our servers.
  • AI only when you ask. When you use the Companion, Report Explainer or Food Scanner, the message, photo or document you choose is sent to Google's Gemini service to produce an answer. Bloom asks for your permission before the first time.
  • We never sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
  • You can delete everything from Settings at any time.

What the app stores on your device

Everything you log in Bloom (due date or birth date, check-ins and symptoms, memories and photos, kick sessions, contractions, feeds, sleep, nappies and diapers, growth measurements, milestones, vaccinations, first foods, appointments and saved report explanations) is kept in the app's storage on your iPhone. It is included in your device backups according to your own iCloud or computer backup settings. We cannot see it.

Information that leaves your device

Your account. To keep Bloom working across reinstalls, the app creates an account with Google Firebase Authentication. By default this is an anonymous account with a random identifier. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, Firebase also receives the email address and name that you allow that provider to share. Your journal is not uploaded to this account.

App integrity. Firebase App Check confirms that requests come from the genuine Bloom app on a real device, which protects our services from abuse. It does not identify you.

App configuration. The app reads its configuration (such as the settings for AI features) from Google Firebase. It does not write your data there.

AI features. When you send a message to the Companion, or a photo or PDF to the Report Explainer or Food Scanner, that content, together with basic context such as your week of pregnancy or your baby's age, is sent to Google's Gemini API to generate the answer. This can include health information. We only do this after you have given explicit consent in the app, and you can withdraw that consent in Settings at any time. Bloom does not keep a copy of these messages on a server. Google processes them to provide the service under its Gemini API terms.

Purchases. Subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple. We receive confirmation that a subscription is active, but never your payment details.

Reminders. Notifications are scheduled on your iPhone. Nothing is sent to a notification server.

Support. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to write, and use it only to help you.

  • Providing the app and your account: performance of our contract with you.
  • Sending health information to AI features: your explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • Protecting the service (App Check) and answering support requests: our legitimate interests.

How long we keep it

Data on your device stays until you delete it or remove the app. Your Firebase account stays until you delete it in Settings or ask us to. Support emails are kept for up to two years.

Your choices and rights

In the app you can turn AI features off, delete your account, and use Delete all data to erase everything Bloom stores on your device. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete or export your information, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a data protection authority. Contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within one month.

International transfers

Google and Apple may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, they rely on safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.

Children

Bloom is designed for adults. It is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their information.

This website

bloomtobaby.com does not use cookies or advertising trackers. It is delivered through Cloudflare, which processes technical data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without tracking you across sites.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
